Our Journey of Love to Emma Grace: The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.....

On January 16, 2012, at approximately 8:30pm, we received a call from our China consultant at EAC with what we thought were last minute questions in preparation for the evenings monthly postings of special needs waiting children in China.

“What would you think of 18 months old making her 2 when you would travel to China?” she asked.

We of course replied " that would be great.!"

Our consultant followed our reply with “Good! She was born August 24^th , 2010……..”

As we looked at each other baffled, in shock and in total disbelief; we stopped her as she continued and asked “Karla…..are you saying there is an actual child for us…..are you saying you found our daughter?”……..

Her file would be sent to the international doctors to review. We would have to wait till the following afternoon to get their recommendation on if we should move forward on her adoption, accept referral and then be able to see her picture for the first time……………

The last 8 days have been crazy. Two surgical procedures at the Cleveland Clinic. The first lasting 6 1/2 hours. I hadn't been away from you for more than 10 minutes since August 6th, 2012. My heart hurt so bad for you. My arms longed to hold you again. It was the longest 6 1/2 hours of my life. But we are home now. It is going to take plenty of time for you to recover fully. I am so very blessed to have this time with you, my daughter, my purpose, my reason. I love you Emma Grace so very much and have from the moment your daddy and I saw your face for the very first time.
